Our

Golden

Gang

Benson

Mr. B, our first. For being first, He will always have that special place in our hearts.

Those dates are right. Benson lived comfortably a few weeks past his 16th birthday.

1984 - 2000

Chaucer

Chaucer was LJ's special companion. Chaucer had a bond to LJ unlike any of our companions have created. He has a great AKC name:

Can't You Bury Tails.

After all, his name is Chaucer!

1990 - 2003

Tanya (Sweetie)

Sweetie was the first Golden we adopted back in 1992 in Massachusetts only a few months before LJ's xfer to Texas

1992 - 1995

Trucker

He was an adoption from a colleague at Fidelity (for those who know, Tony Morrison when he was a sysprog!) who's family could not devote the amount of time needed to an active animal.

1992 - 2005

Dixie

We adopted Dixie from DFWMGRR in February, 1995 following the passing of Sweetie. She had no name so we called her Dixie, in honor of her being our first 'child of the South'. We wound up calling her Dixie-cup, after the ice cream treat.

1995 - 1998

Ladybug

Ladybug was our 'guard dog'. She alerted us to any visitors, two legged or four, better than any of our companions. She was originally named Lady. We adopted her from a co-worker of LJ's named Dick Bugg. So we chose to call her Ladybug.

1999 - 2008

Shasta aka Mama

Shasta came to be called Mama after the way she expressed her motherly instincts in caring for Niles when he arrived as a 7-week old pup. She cleaned him, kept him warm and protected him as if she bore Niles herself.

2000 - 2008

Niles

He joined our family as a seven week old pup in July of 2004. He's a Texan in may senses. He's on the large size, 90 lbs., but has the structure to have that and look great. He's also stubborn and way too smart.

His AKC name is Apollo's Hanging Chad as we finally named him late in 2004 on the contentious presidential election.

He loved to visit Home Depot and he was loved there by the associates and customers alike. That's how he earned his apron.

Click on his pic here to see him "in apron."

June 14, 2004 - June 7, 2016

Roger Razorback

Margie found Roger in an animal rescue center in Rogers, AR, hence his name.

He must know that Margie saved him because he is completely devoted to being near Margie all the time.

2008 - December 5,2020

DD

DD is the newest member of our clan. We got her from the daughter of dear friends of ours in Lewisville. We renamed her from Shiloh, as the name was too similar to Shasta. We came up with "DD", short for "Devil Dog" as she was and still is an impish puppy (born August, 2008).

2009 - June 22, 2019

Click on DD's pic to see some of the last photos I took of her.
